On Tuesday the 25th of May, people from all walks of business,
ranging from start-ups to well established organizations,
gathered together at the inaugural Enterprising Hartlepool
BBQ on Hartlepool’s Historic Quay. Everyone took
part in a speed networking event, where each member had
one minute to convey their company to the other members
sitting on the table.
What could have been seen as a nerve wracking delivery,
turned out to be a bubbly atmosphere of mad contact
and card swaps, which all emanated into an amazing 91
business deals within two hours. It was a fantastic
showcase of genuine, constructive networking.
Vikki Jackson – Smith from J and B recycling
and logistics, won a bottle of champagne for the most
deals of the evening –“There was huge interest
in my business, the event gave me the chance to show
others what my company can provide”.
The whole event which was compared by the duo of Mick
Emerson and John Megson, supported by a helping of fine
wines, which encouraged the frenzy of contacts and once
again built the awareness of the thriving economy in
Hartlepool.
“Due to the genuine deals, there was
a real buzz, and a positive atmosphere creating opportunities
for Hartlepool businesses.” Said John Megson.
The Enterprising Hartlepool BBQ was built on an earlier
Business Leaders Forum event, but what made this time
different and beneficial, was the eagerness and participation
to provide other businesses with healthy opportunities.
Heather Smiles from Health and Safety Supplies added:
“This event gave me the opportunity to speak
one to one to prolific decision makers, which I wouldn’t
normally have the chance to do.
The event reflected how easy it is for people to get
involved, support each other and work together which
boosts the talent and opportunities we have in the area.
